Austrian skier Bjorn Sieber, 23, dies in car crash
SCHWARZENBERG, Austria (AP) — World Cup Alpine skier Bjorn Sieber of Austria died Friday after the van he was riding in swerved off a mountain road and rolled down a hill, police and the Austrian ski federation said.

Motor racing-Indian ministry irked by Ferrari's flag gesture
GREATER NOIDA, India, Oct 26 (Reuters) – India’s foreign ministry condemned Ferrari on Friday for putting the Italian navy flag on their cars at the Indian Grand Prix in what was seen as a political gesture of support for detained sailors. Ferrari said it was simply a tribute to “one of the outstanding entities of our country” although they also alluded in a statement to the two Italian navy sailors charged with killing Indian fishermen. The Formula One team’s hope that “the Indian and Italian authorities will soon find a solution to the situation” did not go down well with the ministry. …

ROME, Oct 26 (Reuters) – Former motorcycling world champion Marco Melandri has been given a 19-month suspended jail sentence for inventing a fictitious residence in England in order to avoid millions of euros of Italian tax between 2003 and 2005. Prosecutors said that while the BMW rider was supposedly resident near Donnington Park race track, the flow of money and his assets showed that his financial interests remained in his home town of Ravenna.
