He was 88. The Longhorns’ winningest coach had a record of 167-47-5 from 1957-1976. He coached the team to three national championships and 11 Southwest Conference titles. In 1996, the university renamed its football stadium Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. “Today is a very sad day,” said Mack Brown, the University of Texas head football coach. …

Nov 7 (Reuters) – San Diego Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal has been suspended for 50 games after testing positive for testosterone, the Major League Baseball team said on Wednesday. Grandal’s suspension will come into effect at the start of the 2013 season. “We were disappointed to learn of the suspension of Yasmani Grandal for violating Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program,” the Padres said in a statement on the team’s website. “We fully support Major League Baseball’s policy and its efforts to eliminate performance-enhancing drugs from our game. …

London to host ATP Tour Finals through to 2015
LONDON (Reuters) – London will host the ATP World Tour Finals through to 2015 after the men’s tennis governing body announced a two-year extension to the current deal on Wednesday. The iconic O2 Arena on the banks of the River Thames has staged the season-ending showpiece since 2009 and the original five-year deal was due to run out in 2013. However, the commercial success of the tournament and the fact that many of the world’s top players are in Paris the week before made London a clear favorite to continue as host. …
