Hayley Carter advanced to the finals of the International Tennis Federation's junior tournament at Lexington Tennis Center on Friday with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over sixth-seeded Rianna Valdes of Boca Raton, Fla. Carter, a Columbia native who also trains at the Smith Stearns Academy, will be seeking to become the first player to win back-to-back titles in the South Carolina ITF when she faces Kaitlyn McCarthy of Cary, N.C., in today's final. Andrew Schafer, who is enrolled in the Smith Stearns Academy in Hilton Head Island and is a signee with the USC men's team, lost to William Blumberg, from Greenwich, Conn., 6-2, 4-6, 6-0, in the semifinals.College cross country
