MELBOURNE, Feb 9 (Reuters) – Former All Black Sonny Bill Williams’s boxing career plumbed a new depth of farce on Friday when he claimed a controversial victory over a middle-aged South African who had him on the ropes before the bout was cut short by two rounds. NBA-LeBron continues hot streak as Heat burn Clippers
MIAMI, Feb 8 (Reuters) – LeBron James equalled a franchise record with his fourth straight 30-point game as the Miami Heat routed the Los Angeles Clippers 111-89 on Friday. James put up 30 points with 9 of 11 shooting before sitting out most of the fourth quarter as Eastern Conference leaders and defending champions Miami dominated a Clippers team who are placed third in the West. The Heat’s victory was even more impressive given they were without center Chris Bosh and shooting guard Ray Allen who were both missing with flu. …

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) – Mali and Ghana meet to decide the bronze medal at the African Nations Cup for a second successive tournament on Saturday. Mali beat Ghana a year ago in Malabo to take third place at the last edition in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon and Saturday’s match in Port Elizabeth will go to the side best able to put aside the trauma of missing out on the final again. Mali were given a thrashing by Nigeria in their last-four clash in Durban, conceding three first-half goals before losing 4-1. …
