(Adds quotes and details) MERIBEL, France, Feb 24 (Reuters) – Tina Maze sealed her near-perfect Alpine skiing season with the overall World Cup when she won a women’s super-combined event on Sunday. Fastest in the morning downhill section, the Slovenian secured her position in the afternoon slalom to bag her ninth victory of the season in an aggregate time of one minute 59.54 seconds. The victory took a while to sink in for Maze, who was suffering from a stomach bug and was not even aware that the World Cup was at stake when she started the second leg. …

MERIBEL, France (AP) — Tina Maze of Slovenia clinched her first overall World Cup title Sunday, winning the super-combined for her eighth victory this season with nine races still to go.
