NBA-Lakers' Gasol out indefinitely with foot injury
LOS ANGELES, Feb 6 (Reuters) – Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol has been sidelined indefinitely after sustaining a tear in his right foot, his team said on Wednesday. Gasol was injured during the Lakers’ victory over Brooklyn on Tuesday and received scans which confirmed an injury serious enough to keep him off court for a while. Los Angeles has not given a specific timetable on his return and the 7-foot (2.13m) Spaniard will meet with team doctors on Thursday to sketch out a plan for his recuperation. …
U.S. men's soccer team loses World Cup qualifier
Jerry Bengston took advantage of a defensive mix-up to score the go-ahead goal in the 79th minute, and Honduras rallied to beat the United States 2-1 on Wednesday in the opener of the final qualifying round for next year's World Cup. Clint Dempsey put the visitors ahead in the 36th minute but the U.S., using a new-look defense, gave up the lead when Juan Carlos Garcia tied the score in the 40th.
