(Reuters) – Buffalo Bills running back Fred Ja ckson has been ruled out of Thursday's game against the Miami Dolphins after being diagnosed with concussion, the National Football League team said on Monday. Jackson was hurt after being struck in the back of the head with an elbow by linebacker Brandon Spikes late in Sunday's 37-31 loss to the New England Patriots. "The tests this morning were not as good as we had hoped and he (Jackson) had hoped so he won't play this week," Bills head coach Chan Gailey told reporters. "It does make a difference. …
Concussions and stricter rules taking their toll
MIAMI (Reuters) – Three teams begin preparation for games this weekend unsure if their starting quarterback will be cleared to play as the league's stricter concussion rules start to bite. The NFL has been concerned about the health implications from concussions and brain injuries and introduced a clearly defined series of steps that teams have to follow when players suffer knocks to the head.
